Explore the event definitions, market mechanics, and resolution questions behind a Polymarket prediction market.

A useful Polymarket conversation begins by identifying which product and documentation are being discussed. The event, token, and resolution concepts here refer to the system described at docs.polymarket.com; a separately documented product can have different terms and mechanics.
That documentation organizes data around events, markets, and outcomes. An event groups one or more markets, and a market defines a tradable question. Outcome identifiers are relevant when a researcher wants to examine the corresponding price or order book. Preserve those identifiers alongside the text of the question so the research remains traceable.
Before interpreting a price, make a short rule card. Include the exact outcome, applicable date, time zone, resolution source, and any special conditions. Ask what evidence would be sufficient to settle the question. If the source publishes revisions, determine which version matters under the market’s terms.
The full Polymarket guide explains how to read that path from question to resolution. It also distinguishes a story about an event from the narrower conditions of a contract.
These questions keep the conversation useful after the headline has moved on. They also help avoid treating a rapid price change as an explanation of its own cause.
A contract on another platform may look similar while resolving on a different date or measurement. Use our Polymarket vs. Kalshi framework to check the match. Do not assume a price difference represents an opportunity until the underlying contracts and practical conditions have been understood.
The API research page explains why timestamps, market identifiers, units, and rule snapshots belong in a research record. Start with a read-only workflow. This site provides educational context and does not connect to accounts, execute trades, or display live quotes.
